Analysis of Vitamins and Minerals in Feed and Pet Food
Vitamins and minerals play a key role in ensuring the health, vitality, and well-being of pets. Their proper levels in feed and pet food influence growth, development, immune system function, metabolism, and overall physiological balance. Both deficiency and excess of specific micronutrients can negatively affect animal health, therefore accurate laboratory determination of their content is of great importance.
The J.S. Hamilton laboratory performs comprehensive analyses of vitamins and minerals in feed, complementary feed, and complete and complementary pet food, in accordance with applicable legislation and industry guidelines.
Why are vitamin and mineral analyses important?
- verification of compliance with label declarations and regulatory requirements,
- ensuring appropriate nutritional value of pet food,
- monitoring the stability of vitamins throughout the product shelf life,
- support in the development of new formulations and reformulations,
- reducing the risk of product recalls and complaints.
Vitamin analysis
We perform determination of both water-soluble and fat-soluble vitamins, including:
- B-group vitamins (including folic acid),
- vitamin C,
- vitamins A, D₃, E, and K.
Mineral analysis
Minerals are essential elements that the animal organism cannot synthesize on its own and must obtain through food in appropriate amounts. We determine the content of macro- and microelements such as: calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, sodium, potassium, iron, zinc, copper, manganese, selenium, and other elements depending on the product composition.
